TOPIK 1 Prep Class (Semi Private)

TOPIK, which simply stands for Test of Proficiency in Korean, is a Korean language test that is usually offered 6 times yearly, twice in Korea only (January & July) and four times in Korea and overseas (March, April, October and November). 

Test of Proficiency in Korean is required by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) and is subdivided into 4 areas:

  • Vocabulary & grammar – Writing – Listening, and Reading

Note also that TOPIK Preparation class is meant for ASE students who must have acquired above 145 hours of Korean language studies for TOPIK1 or 210 hours for TOPIK2 and desire to prepare themselves for the test.

The aim of TOPIK is to promulgate and set direction for learning the language for non-native speakers and overseas Koreans. It helps to measure and assess student’s Korean language skills and also utilise the results for Korea colleges and job prospects.

TOPIK 1: ASE students must complete Korean Intermediate level 4 before joining the TOPIK 1 preparation course.
Non-ASE students need to sit for a placement test before they can be admitted to the course.

TOPIK 2: ASE students must complete Korean Advanced level 4 before joining the TOPIK 2 preparation course.
Non-ASE students need to sit for a placement test before they can be admitted to the course.

Course Structure:

Option 1: Course is held over 10 weeks, lessons are conducted once a week for 3 hours.
Lessons will be held on Wednesday from 3.00 – 6.00 p.m.

Option 2: Course is held over 7 weeks, lessons are conducted twice a week for 2 hours each.
Lessons will be held on Mondays and Thursdays, 7.00 – 9.00 p.m.

Option 3: Participants can also opt to for a Crash Course (more than 3 times a week).

Class Size:

2 – 5 students per class. Participants can opt for private (1-1) classes as well, whereby days and timing would be flexible.
