The people behind Yago.

I am Guus Goorts, founder and managing director of Yago.

I'm a language and culture enthusiast, originally from the Netherlands. When I was 16 years old, I decided I wanted to see as much of the world as possible. Meanwhile, I have lived and worked / volunteered in Belgium, Italy, Ghana and now Singapore.

When I first came to Singapore in 2006, I naturally wanted to learn Mandarin. To my surprise, it was hard to find information about language courses online.

That difficulty planted the first seed for Yago.sg. We now run Yago with a small team, and are determined to make it the best resource for language learning in Singapore.

Here are the other people currently working on Yago.

Nguyen Lam Phuc is our technical wizard. As his name would make you guess, he's from Vietnam and holds the fort on the technical side. He combats spammers when they rear their ugly head, and is constantly working on projects to make Yago a better, faster and more unique website. In his "free time", he studies computer science at NTU.

Lina Ishak is our social media guru. She maintains our Facebook page. To say that her interests are diverse is an understatement. She holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from University of New South Wales, Sydney and speaks Indonesian, Malay and French. She loves to travel and spend time in nature, and is a teacher at heart. Something that can be seen in her Facebook posts. Besides her work for Yago, she is a full-time relief teacher at a primary school.
