Korean Course - Elementary 1

I have taken Korean Elementary 1 and 2 at SKIS and found it to be interesting and am able to read, write simple Korean after 6 months. As the Korean Language Centre under the auspices of Singapore Korean International School, their approach is classroom lesson with homework and a formal written and oral test after each level. Hence, it requires students to study and do regular homework in order to keep up. If you are serious about picking up Korean inclusive of grammar and culture immersion, SKIS is very helpful for motivated learners. But if you are just interested in dabbling in Korean, I would say the homework and effort can be demanding. I found that while Elementary 1 was relatively easy to follow, Elementary 2 gets tougher because grammar is introduced and verb conjugation does require some vocabulary in order to conjugate properly. For serious learners, SKIS is very focussed and will reward those who put in the hard work. :-)

Took Elementary One korean language in SKIS in Jan 2012 and ended Mar 2012. I was really satisfied with the school curriculum (Textbook + Workbook - expect some writings and comprehension as per learning any language) and activity in class. As there were 2 lessons (2 hours per lesson) per week, you tend to pick up korean more readily. The native speaking teachers are fun and easy to interact with. With free school bus pick up at clementi mrt & novena mrt, life was made easier travelling to school. On the last day of lesson, issue of certificate, game activities and foooooooood made it a memorable course ever attended. Coming back for more! :D

Lessons are organised so that we can pick up the basic of Hangul fast in elementary 1. Beside the workbook and textbooks, notes are given in class to further facilitate the learning. Textbook are fill with pictures, making it easier to understand. The teachers are fun and very knowledgable thus making the lessons interesting. Definitely the choice if you want to pick up the language in a short time.

With fun and interesting lessons, I learnt Korean language fast. Textbook and workbook are bought and notes are even provided to facilitate the learning of Korean language. The teachers here are caring and concern themselves with every student in class to ensure that they can keep up with the others. I had a great time in elementary one and definitely will continue on. You'll never regret choosing this course!! :)
