About Us

The world will be a better place if we can appreciate other people and their cultures. Learning a new language helps doing just that. That's why Yago promotes language learning.

Browse our directory of language courses in Singapore to find the language course that's most convenient for you. Over time, we have accumulated hundreds of reviews from people who have studied at one of the language schools listed on this website.

And have a look at our language learning blog to find inspiration, learning tips, experiences and cultural information.

We also run the Vietnamese-language site Yago.vn, which provides information about learning English in Singapore.

Building on our deep knowledge at the crossroads of language learning and online marketing, we also provide SEO and internet marketing services to organisations in the education industry in Singapore. We employ a strict confidentiality policy and will sign non-disclosure agreement. We also restrict ourselves to one client per market, to avoid conflict of interest.

The people behind Yago.

Guus Goorts

I am Guus Goorts, founder and managing director of Yago.

I'm a language and culture enthusiast, originally from the Netherlands. When I was 16 years old, I decided I wanted to see as much of the world as possible. Meanwhile, I have lived and worked / volunteered in Belgium, Italy, Ghana and now Singapore.

When I first came to Singapore in 2006, I naturally wanted to learn Mandarin. To my surprise, it was hard to find information about language courses online.

That difficulty planted the first seed for Yago.sg. We now run Yago with a small team, and are determined to make it the best resource for language learning in Singapore.

Nguyen Lam Phuc

Here are the other people currently working on Yago.

Nguyen Lam Phuc is our technical wizard. As his name would make you guess, he's from Vietnam and holds the fort on the technical side. He combats spammers when they rear their ugly head, and is constantly working on projects to make Yago a better, faster and more unique website. In his "free time", he studies computer science at NTU.

Pinch Tang is our social media guru. She maintains our Facebook page. A full-blood Singaporean, she calls Berlin her second home, loves all things German and if you ever wonder what's on in Singapore over the weekend, you'll never find her shy of a suggestion or two.

Pinch is a journalist and in her free time, she organises monthly meetups for language learners under the flag of Tete-a-tete.

Al-Markaz, The Arabic Language Centre

5.05.05.05.05.0 1 reviews
Looking for a suitable place to follow an Arabic course in Singapore? We have been active as an Arabic language school in Singapore since February 2005. The intention of starting Al-Markaz (Arabic for "The Centre") was to provide a place for everyone who is interested in the Arabic Language to learn the Arabic language and appreciate its beauty. Besides Arabic language courses to get you started, we also have a computer room with computers equipped with Rosetta Stone language learning software that you can use for exercise. We offer translation and interpretation services between Arabic and English. And periodically we also organise study trips to the Middle East, which will allow you to experience the Arabic language first-hand day-in-day out. We are based on the second level of a shophouse at Bussorah Street in the Arab Street area, which without a doubt is the best place in Singapore for an Arabic language centre. The closest MRT station is Bugis. It is the love for the Arabic language and the desire to share the beauty of Arab language and culture that keeps us going at Al-Markaz, and we sincerely welcome you to join us. For starters, have a look at our Arabic courses and do feel free to contact us if you have any question at all!
